About The Eczema Expert

The Eczema Expert provides education, information and complementary wellbeing support for individuals and families living with eczema.
The information shared through this website, The Eczema Expert app, courses, downloadable resources, videos, live calls, community areas, emails and other materials draws upon Rebecca Bonneteau’s professional training in nutrition, herbal medicine and naturopathy, her personal experience of living with eczema, and her experience supporting families.

The purpose of this information is to help families learn, ask informed questions and feel more confident understanding their own circumstances.
It is not intended to replace appropriate medical care.

This is not medical diagnosis or treatment

Information provided by The Eczema Expert should not be regarded as medical advice, diagnosis, prognosis, prescribing or treatment by a medical doctor.
No doctor-patient relationship is created through use of the website, app, courses, community, educational resources or services.

Eczema and other health conditions can have many different causes and presentations. Always seek advice from your GP, dermatologist, pharmacist or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional if you have concerns about your own health or your child’s health.

Do not delay obtaining medical care because of something you have read, watched or heard through The Eczema Expert.

Prescribed medication

Do not stop, reduce, increase or otherwise change prescribed medication or medical treatment solely on the basis of information provided by The Eczema Expert.

This includes topical steroids, prescription creams, antibiotics, antihistamines, immunosuppressants, biologic medication or other prescribed treatments.

Decisions about prescribed medication should be discussed with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

The Eczema Expert’s educational approach may be used alongside conventional medical care.

Complementary approaches

The Eczema Expert discusses a range of complementary approaches, which may include food and nutrition, herbs, topical preparations, essential oils, Bach Flower Remedies, supplements, lifestyle practices and emotional wellbeing techniques.

Information about these approaches is provided for educational and wellbeing purposes.

Natural or complementary does not automatically mean safe or appropriate for everybody. Products and remedies may cause reactions, have contraindications or interact with medication.

Particular care should be taken when considering products for babies and children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, when taking medication, or where an individual has allergies or an existing medical condition.

Where there is any uncertainty, seek individual advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before use.

Rebecca’s naturopathic framework

Some of the explanations and terminology used within The Eczema Expert reflect Rebecca’s naturopathic understanding of health and her experience working with families. These perspectives may differ from conventional medical explanations and should be understood as part of Rebecca’s approach rather than established medical fact.

For example, Rebecca may discuss concepts such as elimination, detoxification, internal support or the body communicating through the skin.

These ideas are intended to provide a framework through which families can explore their experience; they should not be used to disregard medical symptoms or avoid appropriate assessment or treatment.

The term “healing crisis”

Within The Eczema Expert’s educational material, Rebecca sometimes uses the term “healing crisis” to describe periods during which symptoms change or temporarily worsen within her naturopathic framework.

A “healing crisis” is not a medical diagnosis.

New, severe, unusual, persistent or worsening symptoms should not automatically be assumed to be part of detoxification, elimination or a healing crisis.
If you are concerned about symptoms experienced by you or your child, seek appropriate medical advice.

Children

Parents and legal guardians remain responsible for decisions relating to their child’s health, medical treatment and wellbeing.

Where a child is able to communicate their experience, The Eczema Expert encourages families to listen to the child’s preferences and experience of their own skin wherever safely possible.

However, this does not replace parental judgement or appropriate medical assessment.

Emergencies and urgent concerns

The Eczema Expert does not provide an emergency medical service.

Seek urgent medical attention where appropriate, including where a person experiences severe difficulty breathing, significant swelling of the face, mouth or throat, a severe allergic reaction, rapidly worsening symptoms, signs of serious infection, significant deterioration in their general condition or any other medical emergency.

Results and testimonials

Everyone’s circumstances are different.

Family stories, testimonials, case studies and examples describe individual experiences. They are not guarantees, promises or predictions about the results another individual will experience.

The Eczema Expert does not guarantee that eczema will resolve, that medication will no longer be required, or that any particular approach will produce a specific result within a particular timeframe.

Products and suppliers

The Eczema Expert may provide information about products, remedies or suppliers that Rebecca has personally reviewed, used or considers potentially useful.

This does not guarantee that a particular product will be suitable for you or your child.

Availability, formulation, ingredients and manufacturing practices may change. Always check current product information and use products according to their instructions.

Purchases made from third-party suppliers are made directly between you and that supplier and are subject to the supplier’s own terms.

Your responsibility

The purpose of The Eczema Expert is to provide education and support — not to take decision-making away from families.

You remain responsible for deciding which information you choose to use, obtaining appropriate professional advice and making decisions that are right for you and your family.

The aim is not to replace your medical team. It is to help you feel better informed and more confident asking questions, noticing patterns and understanding the choices available to you.
