A Practitioner who truly understands
If you’ve spent sleepless nights listening to the sound of your child scratching—torn between sadness and exhaustion, wondering if it will ever end—I see you.
Meet Rebecca…
I understand eczema both professionally and personally. I was born with chronic eczema and know how deeply it can affect confidence, relationships and family life. Today, I combine that lived experience with my training as a naturopath, nutritionist and herbalist to help parents feel less overwhelmed and more confident in supporting their child.
“I know the desperation of trying cream after cream, hoping for relief, only to feel back at square one. I know it because I lived it.”
Eczema is not something we need to fight. It can be an invitation to pause, become curious and consider what this individual child may need.
Why The Eczema Expert Was Created
The Eczema Expert exists because eczema is about far more than the skin.
After growing up with severe eczema and experiencing declining health throughout my twenties, I decided to take my health into my own hands. As I began to understand my health differently and experienced a dramatic improvement in my eczema, I realised something that would shape the rest of my career: many of the struggles I experienced as a child may have been very different if my parents had been given clearer information, compassionate support and a greater understanding of the wider eczema picture.
Determined to ensure other families didn’t have to navigate the same uncertainty, I have spent the last eight years supporting hundreds of families affected by eczema.
Through this work, I recognised something that can easily be overlooked when the conversation centres only on the visible skin. Children don’t experience eczema only through physical symptoms. They experience it through their emotions, their relationships and the daily interactions that surround them. Parents become exhausted searching for answers, while children often absorb that worry and uncertainty.
Time and time again, I have seen that when parents feel educated, supported and more confident in their approach, the whole family’s experience of eczema becomes calmer. Parents stop feeling trapped in an endless cycle of firefighting and begin responding with greater understanding, curiosity and confidence.
The Eczema Expert was created to help families understand those connections, reduce overwhelm and build confidence, so eczema no longer defines family life.

The Eczema Expert Philosophy
Every lesson, conversation and decision within The Eczema Expert is guided by five core beliefs. They shape how we educate, how we support families and how we define meaningful progress.
We Believe in Looking Beyond the Skin
Eczema is a recognised inflammatory skin condition, and caring for the skin is important. But a child’s experience is never just skin deep.
It can affect sleep, emotions, confidence, relationships and daily family life. Every child is different, so real support means seeing the whole child, not just their skin.
In practice, this means we:
- Care for the skin while staying curious about the wider picture
- Consider sleep, emotions, environment and daily life
- Recognise every child’s eczema experience is unique
- Remember wellbeing is more than what we see on the skin
We Believe in Understanding Before Correcting
Scratching is a real physical response to itch, but it can also increase during tiredness, stress or overwhelm.
Instead of seeing scratching as “bad behaviour,” we pause and ask: what might my child need right now?
Understanding doesn’t replace skin care—it adds compassion, calm and clarity.
In practice, this means we:
- Acknowledge the real physical itch
- Look for patterns, not isolated moments
- Replace judgement with curiosity
- Balance skin care with emotional understanding
We Believe in Supporting the Whole Family
Eczema affects the whole family, not just the child. It can feel exhausting, emotional and isolating for parents.
Families don’t need perfection—they need support, reassurance and space to feel understood.
When parents feel calmer and more supported, children often feel safer too.
In practice, this means we:
- Support parents as well as children
- Offer compassion without judgement
- Encourage calm, reassuring communication
- Create safe spaces for honest questions
We Believe Knowledge Should Be Accessible
Every family deserves clear, trustworthy eczema education—without overwhelm or confusion.
Information should feel simple, practical and empowering, helping parents make informed choices for their own child.
In practice, this means we:
- Provide free, bite-sized education through the app
- Offer a free private community for families
- Make complex topics easier to understand
- Encourage questions and independent thinking
- Help parents feel empowered, not dependent
We Believe in Progress, Not Perfection
Families don’t need to get everything right—they just need to keep moving forward in small, meaningful ways.
Progress might be calmer skin, but it might also be less fear, more confidence, or simply feeling more in control day to day.
In practice, this means we:
- Focus on small, manageable changes
- Avoid overwhelming families with too much at once
- Celebrate confidence as well as skin changes
- Encourage starting with what feels right today
- Remind families they are not alone
